Case Study: Statcare Urgent Care
For over ten years, Statcare has gone above and beyond to provide excellent patient care for New York and surrounding areas. Statcare has been using UptimeHealth since 2020 and has witnessed a great improvement in operational efficiencies and compliance utilizing our platform. Below is an interview between Brendan Morris and Krisha Billini, Site Manager for Statcare.
UptimeHealth (Brendan Morris): Can you tell us about the processes you used to use to track quality control tasks and your medical equipment service history prior to UptimeHealth? And how did that process work for you?
Statcare (Krisha Billini): The process that we used was an excel spreadsheet, while some other facilities were using paper. It was a tedious process because all of the sites were not on the same page, and when it was time for documentation and tracking processes we had no idea what was there. When it was time to prepare for accreditation we had no idea what was where. So, for example, if they were to ask us to pull a QC log for strep throat at a particular site, we would not have been able to pull it for them because all the sites were not on the same page or the same standards. And now, with Uptime, we are.
Brendan Morris: How much time do you think we are saving you when it comes to pulling reports?
Krisha Billini: We have 8 locations. It probably would have taken us weeks to prepare [for UCA accreditation] because we would have to pull two years of information. Take into consideration that this year was virtual so that would have made it even more difficult.
Brendan Morris: What other options did you consider using to improve your compliance and equipment management efforts besides UptimeHealth?
Krisha Billini: When I came on board Dr. Priti had already selected UptimeHealth. But, I do know prior to UptimeHealth they did use Trello to give them reminders on logs.
Brendan Morris: If you were to tell us the one or two most valuable things UptimeHealth provides to you and your team, what would they be? Are there any measurable benefits that you have seen?
Krisha Billini: I think for us [site managers], we have all agreed that UptimeHealth is very beneficial. One, I love the fact that I get daily reminders sent to my email and I can click seamlessly and see what the [compliance completion] percentages are for my sites. And then, I can send [staff] reminders to do their tasks. I also really enjoy knowing who is doing what and who is completing their tasks. Before I had to go to a site, and open a binder, or open a computer, to have to see the logs. Also, as a member of the management team, it is perfect because we can all see what is going on. And if I am not around they [the other site managers] can also see what is being done. It is nice to know things aren’t going to fall through the cracks.
Brendan Morris: Is there anything you feel we could add to our platform that would help better our software and your experience?
Krisha Billini: An App! I don’t know if anyone has suggested this, but an app would be extremely helpful seeing reports on the go. I am not the most tech-savvy person, but the platform has been very user-friendly. Also, to be able to add and remove team members [to groups], I feel like we are constantly emailing you and we have a lot of turnover at our sites.
Brendan Morris: In your experience, what has the training process been like for you, from the beginning as well as when a new employee starts?
Krisha Billini: At first, our team was reluctant to get started. Mainly because of COVID-19 and it was something new. But once they saw how easy it was, they were all on board. Now when I walk into a site it [the UptimeHealth platform] is always on. And when a new team member comes on, it’s easy for them to log in and have another team member show them how it works. We had a really slow start because they weren’t really welcoming, but once we got started, it has been very easy.
Brendan Morris: What is something you would tell someone in a similar role as you about us? Would you recommend our software?
Krisha Billini: I absolutely would recommend Uptime. It is seamless it is user-friendly. You can see what is going on, as well as hold team members accountable. Everyone has access to it, so there is no waiting process, and everyone knows what is going on in real-time. I also like the fact that whenever we needed something changed, or had a question, you were always quick to respond. I also like the fact, you were out sick one time and Jinesh was able to get on a call with us. It is super helpful and we were going through accreditation which is a nerve-wracking process so we really appreciated that.
